Language Vocabulary and Literacy
Language, vocabulary and literacy includes concepts such as using and labelling words, interaction with print, listening and responding to stories, songs, rhyme and building on vocabulary. We link these concepts through play by exploring books, listening to stories, listening to music, exploring letters through activities and games, dramatic and symbolic play, environmental print, using descriptive language such as talking about how things look, feel, taste, smell, and function, provide opportunities for conversation, document play through photos and share with children, begin turn taking games, play pattern games with rhyme, modelling the use of literacy materials, setting up the environment with familiar and non familiar items and introduce problem solving materials.
