Welcome

We are now closed. Thank you to all the families for your support

I am a Registered Early Childhood Educator, and have a bachelor degree in Child and Youth care from the University of Victoria. I began the journey of being a childcare educator with a vision in mind; to give children the space to be valued and accepted for who they are, to help them grow into the potential they already possess and be the best person they can be. I create an environment that will help children learn through play and discover the world around them leaving their learning limitless.

My approach emphasizes the importance of fostering strong caring relationships with children and their families, celebrating individuality and supporting a child’s healthy physical, cognitive, social and emotional development.

I will provide teacher guided learning opportunities, which involve stories, songs, finger plays, music, art, personal and social development and concepts such as numeracy, language, literacy, and science which are learned through play, exploration and investigation of the environment.

Home Day Care
"There can be no keener revelation of a society's soul than the way in which it treats its children" (Nelson Mandela)
Many parents are curious, what is involved in running a home daycare and what does my childcare provider do? I like to use the word home childcare as I feel the child comes first and foremost. As a professional operator of a home childcare I have many roles and responsibilities; which are being organized, setting goals, self directing, administration, advertising, meal planning, cook, planning curriculum, staying up to date with evidence based learning strategies, document observations, reporting observations to parents, engaging with parents daily, maintenance and management of work space, communicating with families and interviews, providing a theoretical framework to explain how I operate my childcare and the most important aspect of my job interact and form relationships with the children in my care, helping them to reach their potential to be the best they can be.
Children's Rainbow Village Family Childcare
"Walk on a rainbow trail of song, and all about you will be beauty. There is a way out of every dark mist, over a rainbow trail" -Virginia Woolf
I Choose the name Children's Rainbow Village Family Childcare because I believe children are first and foremost, unique individuals with with unlimited potential.
A rainbow in mythology was considered to be a path made by a messenger between Earth and Heaven. I see the rainbow as a natural bridge from home to childcare, nurturing each child while providing support to families. Each child is accepted as the individual he/she is and are encouraged to reach for the stars and believe in themselves.

Village is a sense of community, a belonging of people who come together with the best interest of others around them. The old African proverb, "it takes a village to raise a child", is still very true today.

Family leads to an environment that is safe, loving, caring and warm.

Childcare is an environment that supports and nurtures children's play, social, emotional and cognitive growth.
Play to Learn
"Play is the highest expression of human development in childhood for it alone is the free expression of what is in a child's soul" (Friedrich Froebel)
The question I am often asked is how do children learn through play? Play is misunderstood, and may be looked at as something we do in our leisure time. However, for children play is a gateway to learning. Play does more than builds brains it provides an emotional outlet and gives opportunity for social development. Play is a natural approach to learning. Through touch, manipulating and exploring children learn how the world works. They gain a mental and creative energy and promotes well being.
Play is not about just having toys in a room, it is how the environment is set up for learning. Children will encounter a variety of challenging materials and equipment as well as planned and unplanned activities.  Activities come in many forms such as open ended play experiences and teacher guided learning opportunities.

Although there are many learning aspects to play the most important in care is fostering a sense of relationship with the caregiver and peers through having fun, overcoming disappointments, engaging in sharing opportunities, utilizing imagination and feeling a sense of belonging and a sense of being at home.
